1. Blue Ray will ultimately take over DVD for our home video entertainment, however, the advencement of Blue Ray isn't that big of a leap in technology, compared to what DVD achinved over their VHS predecessor.
2. After Walmart's agreement to only carry Blue Ray, and the addition of including a Blue Ray player in the playstation 3, it became obvious that Blue Ray was the next steep in home entertainment. Blue Ray provides the best visual quailty that people have ever been able to bring into their homes, but is it worth it to sacrifice a moutain of DVDs, which you would have to buy again, just for an increase in quality. The leap from VHS to DVD, was obvious to most as soon as they witnessed the amount of control digital technology offered to the viewer as well as the amount of space that DVD's held, which made it easy to inclued special features and commentaries. VHS's had limited control and would sometime need to tapes to hold one movie. This article argues that the progression of Blue Ray's quality is not a good enough leap of technology to surrender the money and storage that has been spent on DVD.
